How we work
We look for how it got in.
An animal in the house found a gap somewhere: a soft spot in the soffit, an open chimney, a loose vent, or a space under the porch. If only the animal is removed, the next one finds the same gap.
So every visit covers both. We find the animal and the opening it used, take it out, and close the opening with material it cannot chew through.
How a call usually goes
Call and tell us what you notice
What you hear or see, where in the house or yard, and what time of day.
We come and look
We check the spot you describe, then the roof edge, chimney, vents, porch and foundation.
We remove it and close the gap
We take the animal out, show you what it damaged, and seal the opening it used.
Through the year
What we see each season.
Animals move in at different times of year, and the time of year changes how the job is done.
December to February
Winter
Mice and rats that came in during the fall settle into walls and basements, and raccoons start pairing up and looking for dens in attics and chimneys.
March to May
Spring
Mother raccoons, squirrels and skunks have young in chimneys, attics and under porches. Nothing gets sealed until we know the young are out.
June to August
Summer
Bat colonies raise their young in older attics, groundhogs dig under sheds, and wasp and hornet nests grow under the eaves.

September to November
Fall
Squirrels and mice look for winter shelter. Fall is when we see the most chewed roof corners, and the best time to close gaps.

Before you call
Questions people ask before they call.
Do you cover all of Swarthmore?
Yes, the whole borough. If the house is just outside it, call with the address and we will tell you on the phone.
Is this the borough's animal control?
No. Swarthmore Animal Control is a private wildlife company you pay. We do not pick up stray dogs or cats and we do not run a shelter.
There is a bat in the house. What should I do?
Close the door to that room, open a window, and keep children and pets out. Then call us. If someone may have been bitten, call your doctor too.
How much does it cost?
We tell you the price of the first visit on the phone before we come out. Repairs are priced after we have seen the openings.
When can you come?
Call and we will tell you when we can get there. If an animal is loose inside the house, say so when you call.
What animals do you take out?
